Why would she do that? She was very happy with her family and her life. Another woman the same age jumps off a building in London for no reason. Jackman is able to stay on the case and working with the team to find out what is in Sarah's past. They find a whole different life his brother never knew about and soon come t ...more

Let me start with this: I am not a fan of books where unhappy things happen with family or friends of the main character. I don't understand why it is necessary to have those poor people die or hurt or whatever, just to write a story. In this book, Sarah could easily have been a total stranger. Now Jackman is left with a lot of questions and a grieving brother.
This said, I must also say I enjoyed the book but it did not leave a big impression. In fact, I had to reread some parts when writing th ...more
Once again Joy enthrals me with her writing. I know I say it every time, but her books are soooo good and well written, and this one is no exception.
This case proves to be a bit too close to home with Rowans sister-in-law committing suicide and then there’s another similar suicide that happens and the cases become linked. It is a very cleverly written book, with lots of twists and turns, and that’s just Marie’s motorbike!
You could really feel for Rowan and his family and the effects of it all, ...more
A Cracker of a Crime Book
I so enjoyed the previous books about D I Rowan Jackman and DS Marie. I like the partnership. The stories are intriguing and fast pacing. They are full of normal human frailties and strengths but great stories. The murderer is usually very intelligent, cunning and extremely nasty. He always appears to be ahead of the police despite all the clever technology. Together with detectives who have excellent crime results. Slowly the facts come to light. I look forward to the n ...more

What would cause a happily married woman who adores her family to commit suicide? When a man and another woman also die by their own hand, the team realize the victims were pushed into these tragic acts by an unknown perpetrator, but why?
