Eve of Man (Eve of Man Trilogy #1) Reviews
From the moment I heard about this book I was really intrigued by the whole concept of the story.
It’s a dystopian like none I’ve ever read before built on the premise of only boys being born in decades, Eve being the first girl born in fifty years and her duty to help humanity survive.
I loved it!
It’s written in a way that keeps you glued to the pages and the characters are written so well, I adore Eve and Bram!
The story flows easily and has you rooting for the good guys throughout and I’m so gla ...more
3.5 to 4*
The blurb intrigued me and my first thought was the incredible Children of Men. The difference is in Children of Men no children had been born for eighteen years. Whereas in Eve of Man it’s been 50 years since the last baby girl was born.
Without females the human race was facing extinction and by the time Eve was born the earth was a mess. Men living without hope of a future have abused the world beyond imagination. Overconsumption of fossil fuels accelerated global warming.

I received an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
There are number of things in Eve of Man that left me feeling deeply uncomfortable, and that really took away any enjoyment I might have gotten from the story otherwise. Before I get into why I disliked this book, first I want to acknowledge that there are fun sci-fi concepts in here that I found imaginative and novel, and I especially liked how the futuristic technology is actually central to the plot. There is also a believab ...more

I received an ARC from Penguin Random House India in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.
EVE OF MAN, in a nutshell, has:
1) An interesting Plot (AND I MEAN VERY INTERESTING) *gestures at you to read synopsis above*
2) Easy to read writing (no superfluous nonsense, YAY)
3) A lot of filler?
EVE OF MAN left me with:
1) A sense of something missing, or potential unfulfilled, if you know what I mean

“'Any future is better than none at all.' (...)I'm no stranger to Giovanna & Tom Fletcher and when I heard that they were releasing a book in my preferred genre, YA, I couldn't contain my excitement. I had the chance of snatching an advanced reader copy and I couldn't be more glad because this book surprised me more than once and made me quite excited about this new Y ...more

I thought this book was a really interesting concept but wasn’t sure what to expect as if not read any books by either of them. And initially for me, the first bit is a little glossed over, so I didn’t get a draw. And when it started in earnest it did take me a little while to get into it. But by the end I was reading fast to find out what happened!!
It’s not always spectacularly written, especially in the f ...more
