A Blood Thing Reviews
Okay, so I liked the book. Good strong story about the typical well-placed rich east coast political family who ends up getting sucked into being blackmailed for unknown purposes. My problem was the telling of the story of the blackmailer. Several times Mr. Hankins went into excessive details regarding the villians detailed plans (including binders with dividers and a wall full of pictures with string connections, etc). I loved this! If I were a criminal, this guy would be my idol! I wanted to k ...more
A Blood Thing is the first book I’ve read by James Hankins. Immediately following this review, I am putting every single other book of his on my want to read shelf. I absolutely love this book. It has everything I love in a good suspense - murder/blood, edge of your seat action, intrigue, and plot twists galore. I also loved the main villain and the workings of his brain, and some of the protagonists weren’t shiny, unblemished heroes. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys suspense.
Interesting and well written but completely implausible premise. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. Am sure others will like this more than I did. Am curious what readers in Vermont think.
The Kane family are a fantastically wealthy and high acheiving bunch, with one brother, Andrew the Vermont State Governor, Henry a high ranking police offical and Molly, decorated for serving her country in the military and now studying to also join the police service. Their brother, and Molly's twin, Tyler, has lead a sheltered and protected life after an accident as a 7 year old left him with brain damage and learning difficulties. Tyler, 29 years old at the time of the events, is permanently ...more
This is my first book by this author and definitely not my last. This book is not my usual genre, yet I could not put it down !
This book is the story of the Kane family .
Andrew is Governor if Vermont, Henry is part of the police department and twins Molly and Tyler!
Tyler ( had a brain injury years ago) is framed for murder and this starts the killer to blackmail this family .
This book takes many twists and turns and I enjoyed this book a lot !
This is the kind of book that hooks you from the first pages and is difficult to put down. In my estimation, the measure of an excellent story is one where you wonder, "What is happening ?" when you are not reading the book. This story kept my interest all the way to the end. It was filled with action and a compelling story that brings up moral and ethical issues in a way that make you question what you would have done in the same situation.
I would recommend this book to all

Very well written mystery that will leave you guessing until the end, then blow you away! I personally loved how this book was written. Its a very complex story line and the characters are so well developed! I have to give it a 5 star but wish I could go higher! If you love a great mystery, you must give this one a try!
