The Woman in the Woods (Charlie Parker #16) Reviews
Review: THE WOMAN IN THE WOODS by John Connolly (Charlie Parker #16)
The inimitable private detective Charlie Parker never disappoints, nor does his creator, John Connolly. Every adventure of Parker's is riveting, raising further the veil hiding the Other Side. In this novel, Charlie Parker becomes if possible more philosophical, more metaphysical, even more attuned to the supernatural, preternatural, the otherworldly. His deep and abiding capacity for self-analysis put me in mind of St. Teresa o ...more
Sped through this like Sterling Moss in an elevator!
Another great Charlie parker story that keeps a big toe in the supernatural, giving the reader two new creepy villains. Lots going on as Parker searches for a missing child while crossing paths with a new set of enemies.
Another supernatural winner.
John Connolly delivers yet another riveting Charlie Parker thriller. Will never tire of this series and I cannot wait for the next instalment.
The Woman in the Woods is the sixteenth book in Connolly’s long-running Charlie Parker series yet it somehow feels just as fresh as the first. It’s hard to dive deep into the plot without potentially giving away some light spoilers from prior books, so if you want to remain a virgin to the series, maybe skip this review and go pick up Every Dead Thing already.

“It was the season of awakenings.”
I couldn’t put this one down.
I love this series and this one was fuckin’ awesome from cover to cover. Can’t wait for the next in the series.
If you aren’t reading John Connolly, then you are missing out big time.
John Connolly gets better and better. My favourite Charlie Parker so far. It's great to settle down with a book that you just know you are going to enjoy. He never disappoints. I hope he's not paving the way for the devolution of Louis though and that Angel is back in the next book to add his humanity and humour to the mix again.
I absolutely adored this subtlety sinister crime fiction novel. I particularly enjoy the supernatural themes, that run throughout the series and are utterly menacing. For me, it is the perfect blend of crime fiction and horror and Charlie Parker is the perfect protagonist to guide you through the pages.
The novel opens with Angel recovering from surgery for stage 2 colon cancer. So, Parker is one wingman down. This doesn’t impact the plot unravelling and throughout we receive regular updates on ...more
Brilliant! The Charlie Parker series just gets better and better with each instalment. John Connolly has a very engaging writing style. The story flows really well and is both frightening and humorous in parts. He gives all his characters depth, even those that we meet only in passing. Loved it!
