2 Fuzzy, 2 Furious (The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl novels #2)

Squirrel Girl is BACK in an all-new adventure and things are about to get . . . hairy. Thanks to Squirrel Girl, Ana Sofia, and the Squirrel Scouts, the crime rate in New Jersey is at an all time low. It makes for safer streets but also bored-er squirrels. That's why it's super exciting when Doreen's school announces a new mall is being built right next to their town. Mmmm . . . Doreen can smell the soft pretzels now. The corporation building mall has also announced that there will be a competition to choose the mall's mascot. Because malls need mascots?Anyway, Doreen's school will be voting for a cat and the neighboring school will be voting for a dog. As the relationship starts to unravel between the two towns, Squirrel Girl and her friends suspect something more sinister is at work. With the help of old friends like Ana Sofia, Tippy Toe, and The Mighty Thor as well as some surprising new ones, Squirrel Girl will squash a villainous plot and save everyone. The unbeatable Squirrel Girl is ready for more nuts AND more butts! Are you?...

I didn't even know a second volume of this was out until I saw it on display at the library! I'm not doing a great job of keeping up with sequels lately. I  really enjoyed the first one so dove right into this as soon as I got it. The same humor and same Doreen Green aka Squirrel Girl. As before my favorite parts, like the candy of the book, were the pages of group text between her and the Avengers (no group texts please, asks Black Widow immediately.)  These cameos by Iron Man, Captain America, ...more

Another stellar novelisation of middle-school aged Squirrel Girl. Her friend Ana Sofia is Mexican-American and part of the deaf community. The signing and inclusion even of "tail sign" with teh squirrels is heart-warmingly inclusive. As always; Squirrel Girl is just amazing: proportional strength of a human-sized squirrel and capable of punching anyone evil out of the urge to be evil...but yet she always tries to default to kindness first which; along with the humor, is one of the great reasons ...more

You can't say Shannon Hale doesn't take notes. This middle-grade sequel comes with less squirrel chapters and footnotes and more superhero texting antics than the first installment and is a much better book because of it. Unlike most of these tie-ins, the teen angle doesn't feel forced or like the author took a regular book and swapped in some comic book names at the last minute.

And, really, how can you hate on a story where Hydra opens a mall?

    4.5 stars.

As a huge fan of the title character since her creation, I might be biased. But there is no such thing as "Too much Squirrel Girl"!!

This is a worthy sequel to the first novel: the authors carry on Doreens "pre-comics" story in a manner that is enjoyable and entertaining.

There's something refreshing about this character, and her unswervingly optimistic outlook on life in this day and age, and the authors continue to capture a perfect mix of teenage angst coupled with that forementioned

    Initial thoughts:

Similar to the first book, 2 Fuzzy, 2 Furious was highly entertaining, fun and adorable on all levels. I am not very familiar with Squirrel Girl in the comics, but if she's anything like Shannon and Dean Hale's Squirrel Girl, I am a fan!

    Full review to come.

Loved it! What a great sequel ! A superhero with special needs is really a great book for kids about being different not mattering ! Hoping there is another book in this great series! Funny book with all the avengers!

I love these Squirrel Girl books SO MUCH. The tie-ins with the Marvel universe, the awkward 14-year-old best friendship moments, the unflappable confidence and sweetness of Doreen Green, the strangely 1920s reporter jargon that makes up the squirrel language, the relevant plot lines (most of this one hinged on evil forces using carefully planted internet comments to drive groups apart and make them more hostile OMG)...my boys love them absolutely as much as I did, and this warms me to my core.
