Monday's Not Coming is a dark story about a girl whose best friend goes missing. Nobody seems concerned, except Claudia. Claudia sets out to figure out what happened to Monday and will do whatever it takes to get answers.

I have mixed feeling about this book. I won't say it's an "enjoyable" read because the story is kind of grim. I did like Claudia. I had to admire her strive to keep trying to figure out what happened to her friend and to make the adults listen to her. I will admit thoug

Monday’ Not Coming was utterly devastating, gripping, dark, intense and it messed with my mind on multiple levels. The various relationships and characters in this were superbly written, with voices brilliantly human and real. This had my heart beating 1000x a minute and breaking in equal measures. I will say that I wasn’t the biggest fan of the structure of the book and therefore found the timeline a little hard to follow at times. There were also some potentially harmful plot points, which was ...more

“Who’s really responsible for your well-being - your family, the government, or your community?”

I think this book is a very important read to shine light on situations affecting missing children of color. The MCs best friend goes missing and no one seems to notice or care but her. She tries her best to get many people involved but police tell her an immediate family member has to report it and social workers are saying the friend is perfectly fine.

There goes one of my most anticipated releases of the year. I wouldn’t say it’s a disappointment, but sadly not going to be a new favorite. 3 1/2 stars

This story follows Claudia, a young teen who has a best friend named Monday. When Claudia returns to school at the start of the year, Monday isn’t there and no one seems to have any idea where she is. Told in three timelines, the story explores the relationship between Monday and Claudia as the mystery of her disappearance is unraveled.

This book has so many great aspects! The theme, the voice, the narration, the characters! But I'm hurting too much to decide on my favorite.

Note: Special thanks to Harper Collins for providing an ARC for review.

Much like Allegedly, readers have to dive blindly into this book and allow Ms. Jackson to lead you on a twisting and thrilling journey. Anytime students ask for a book recommendation that is either dark, would blow their minds, or both, I always point them to Allegedly. Monday's Not Coming will give me another opportunity to expose readers to Jackson as the wonderful YA mystery

I wanted to like this more than I did. I found the timelines confusing, and even when (view spoiler) I still could not connect with the storytelling style.

That said, this is going to be a powerful book to many readers. It's a story about abuse and privilege, as well as a story about the girls who go missing without a trace.
