Beneath the Shine Reviews
I will preface this with saying I'm a sucker for any Scarlet Pimpernel adaptation but I really enjoyed this one. It was a brilliant way to modernize and project the original into a... I won't call it dystopian but technology based future. Very well done.
Won the Kindle edition on Goodreads, found it to be a delightful read, gave it to my 15-year-old grandson and he really enjoyed it. Good reads--
Beneath The Shine
Overall this was a pretty interesting book with some great parallels to modern politics (though, I must admit, I thought it was going to go somewhere with this that it didn't and that was a bit disappointing). One detail I really liked was how the main male character was really into makeup and this was largely treated as not weird? It makes sense, since it's set in the future. Anyways, a good read that I'm glad I checked out
I really like this book, the world building is so realistic, everytime I was reading, I was lie OMG it could be us in 50 years, and it is scary.
The plot is very entertaining and intense.
Once again, well done
I struggled through this one even though I love the story line (Scarlet Pimpernel). I just didn't connect to any of the characters. It was a creative retelling though.
