Goody Two Shoes (Invertary #2) Reviews
Famous singer wants his friend and manager to 'arrange' a woman for him to marry. Despite his romantic songs, Josh doesn't believe in love or romance, but at 35, he wants to get married, and start a family.
When control-freak Caroline shows up to discuss her favourite castle with it's new owner (Josh) she wasn't quite expecting the proposal she was given.
I liked Josh, and his ability to see past Caroline's calm and controlled exterior. Caroline herself? Hmmm, I didn't really lov ...more
I'm quickly becoming a big fan of Janet Elizabeth Henderson. I discovered her great writing when I bought a book suggested by a Goodreads ad: Lingerie Wars. Lingerie Wars is hilarious, and if you have yet to read it, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy.
I liked Lingerie Wars only a hair more than Goody Two Shoes, but Goody Two Shoes is a great book in its own right.
GTS is about Caroline, a Scottish control freak librarian who thinks she is doomed to live a romance-free life. Her practicality ...more
Josh is an American music star sick of hookups and fake women. He wants an old fashioned girl so he buys a castle in Invertary Scotland and pursues matrimonial bliss (arranged style) with Caroline; the tightly wound librarian who is a Grace Kelley look-a-like. Many laughs and many old friends from Invertary return to confuse, confound and complicate the pursuit of matrimony. Caroline is an everywoman full of quirks and the desire to control EVERYTHING around her and Josh is just wonderful. He co ...more
I just loved it.
(I'll read other reviews and link the one that satisfies my thoughts)
I'll just say that reading about Caroline in Lingerie wars I was sure she was the kind of h I love and I wasn't mistaken. I loved everything about her, even her gray suits.
Josh surprised me, how laid back he was about almost everything but Caroline, if it was about her then he was intense.
Betty made small appearances but still managed to remind me she was my favorite in book one.
JEH is like a thinking man's (woman's) SEP.
I like SEP, I mean you don't read a dozen books by an author you don't like. But she also drives me insane. So often she promises great things....like a Ducati 959 Panigale
But you end up with a 1951 Vespa.
But Goody Two Shoes is great. It's like all the best parts of a SEP book with none of the things that drive me insane. A fun, light and entertaining read.
Delightfully Light Romantic Comedy!
This was a very quick, but entertaining read!. I loved the premise: busy American celebrity, Josh, is disillusioned with the groupies , one-night stands, and women fawning over him, his money and his fame. He is ready to settle down and have kids, but not with any of the women he has been dating. He buys a castle in Scotland for use as a sound studio and vacation home. Then he demands his agent, Mitch, search out appropriate candidates for an "arranged marriage ...more
It was utterly ridiculous, but fun, and really sweet.
Better base story than the first book, but...
I liked Betty from the first book better than the Domino Guys in this book. I was glad she still made appearances. This one had kinda stereotypical leads too, but the guy was a little softer and the gal was a little harder and more awkward. I liked the story, but saw the plot 'twists' coming a mile away. The comedy was still fantastic and made me laugh. The Domino Guys were funny and thrown into funny situations. I'm definitely hooked on this series. ...more
